iMac (15” USB 2.0)

Introduced: September 2003
Terminated: July 2004

Description

The iMac (15” USB 2.0) brought the speed of the iMac ran at 1.0Ghz like the previous model.  It had a 80Gb hard drive and 256Mb of RAM.  It had a CD-RW/DVD-ROM.

History

The new release of the iMac was a rarity in that it did not actually increase the processor speed of the low-end model.  The major improvement simply brought the 15” model up to the standard of the 17” model including features like Bluetooth and AirPort extreme capability.  Both models also now had the faster USB 2.0 standard.

A 20” top of the line model running at 1.25Ghz was introduced as part of this release.
